12/05 - Present UNIVERSITY of TEXAS BROWNSVILLE --- Brownsville, Texas

Associate Professor Program Area of Adapted Physical Activity and Adapted Aquatics -- Taught undergraduate classes in Adapted Physical Activity, Adapted Aquatics & Rehabilitation, Measurement Techniques, Secondary Methods, Lifetime Fitness, and Introduction of Sports & Exercise. Further, I have supervise student teachers and students for community service programs.

09/90 - Present SPECIAL OLYMPICS INTERNATIONAL

Consultant for Research & SOI Workshops for Motor Activities Training Program-- Performed data analyses, wrote results sections, methods, and conclusions on various projects (e.g., Play Activities Program, Effects of SO Training on the Motor and Affective Behavior of Students with Severe Disabilities). The Motor Activities Training program is designed to involve "in a meaningful way" children with very severe disabilities into the Special Olympics program. Workshops are one day, with the morning consisting of program design and the afternoon practical/hands-on.

1/02 - 5/05 WEST TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY --- Canyon, Texas

Assistant Professor Program Area of Adapted Physical Activity and Biomechanics -- Taught undergraduate classes in Adapted Physical Activity, Adapted Aquatics, Biomechanics, Measurement & Evaluation, Motor Development, Elementary Kinesiology, Stress Management, Health & Wellness, CPR for Professional Rescue, Outdoor Living, and taught master classes in Biomechanics, Trends & Issues, and Inclusion in physical Activity. Further, I have obtained several research and program grants of which I supervise students during rehabilitation intervention for community programs.

Coach/Games Director/Area Management Team/Regional Trainer--Coached many Special Olympic sports, Gymnastics, Basketball, Athletics and directed meets. Served as Games Director of track and field and the Director of swimming meet. Also participated at state games and annual fund raisers.

08/95 - 08/96 SOUTH PLAINS EDUCATIONAL COOP---Levelland, Texas

Director/Adapted Physical Education Teacher/Assisted Technology Team --(schools, homes, hospitals, ages 2-21). Work included scheduling, coordinating and implementing programs for 27 different schools and supervised 25 personnel. Work with different disability populations (including autistic, mentally retarded, orthopedically handicapped, emotionally/behaviorally disturbed, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, and learning disabled) in fitness, gross, fine and fundamental motor, aquatics, dance, leisure, lifetime sports, and rehabilitation purposes.

08/90 - 08/95 LUBBOCK INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT---Lubbock, Texas

Adapted Physical Education Teacher--(schools, homes, hospitals; grades K - 12) Worked with different disability populations (including autistic, mentally retarded, orthopedically handicapped, emotionally behaviorally disturbed, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, and learning disabled) in fitness, gross, fine and fundamental motor skills, aquatics, dance, leisure, lifetime sports, and rehabilitation.

Cardiac Rehabilitation-- Included ECG analysis, stress testing, dietary instruction, stress management and implementation of work-out programs.

Therapy Pool Supervisor --Worked with students with autism, mental retardation, and cerebral palsy, and emotionally/behaviorally disturbed.

Teaching for the Department of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation--Taught classes in exercise physiology lab, weight training, swimming, bowling, tennis, gymnastics, golf, and racquetball. Responsible for both classroom and gym sessions, including lectures, grading, and issuing tests.

Pool Manager--Executed pool managerial duties (cashiering, maintenance, supervision of the staff), taught swimming (including children with disabilities), and lifeguarding.

Head Coach--Taught gymnastics to children with and without disabilities; supervised two staff members; and organized national gymnastics competition.

2007 - 2008 Grant proposal: Special Olympic International "Health and Research Initiative." Contact: Dr. Mark L. Wagner. Topic: Hispanic Special Olympic Athletes Health Promotion "Aqua Safe, Fit, & Sports" Program. Aim: To test/evaluate fitness levels, eating habits, health behaviors, and swimming skill levels for SO athletes as well as providing educational materials to SO athletes and their families. Funding $20,000 which would include (support staff training and work, copying, mailing, transportation/travel, perishable materials for physiological testing)

2005- 2006 WTAMU Killgore Research grant titled "Athletic Trainers Beliefs Toward Working with Special Olympic Athletes." The $1,500 grant payed for data collection and a student assistant.

2003 - 2005 CPS (Child Protective Services) Region I Children With Disabilities Project Grant: I helped developed grant proposal, consult, and conduct workshops for foster parents and caseworkers related to rehabilitation and adapted physiology. The grant pay $561,000 over four years.

2004- 2005 CPS (Child Protective Services) Region I Children With Disabilities Project statistical analysis for grant. I developed, validated, and analyzed four instruments to measure the success of the projects intervention.

2003 - 2004 Grant proposed: Special Olympic International "Field of Dreams Research Grant." Contact: Mr Stephen Corbin. Study: Athletic Trainers Beliefs Toward Working with Special Olympic Athletes.

2002- 2003 Federal Grant with Nursing Department "Rural Health Project" Coordinator: Sally Carmen (806-651-2648). I am in charge of finding, placing, organizing, and supervising eight students willing to develop programs in adapted physical activity for rural nursing homes, hospitals, and home intervention for individuals with disabilities. Each students will work 6 weeks and receive a 2,400 stipend.

2000 - 2002 Supervise Slippery Rocks Students for Fridays adapted aquatic program for children with disabilities from Slippery Rock Coop School System (41 youth). This program is part of the adapted aquatics and rehabilitation class. Students will receive certification as an "Adapted Aquatic Instructors" by AAALF upon completion of the course.

1999 - 2002 I help prepared students taking the adapted physical activity and rehabilitation class service 60 adults with disabilities from Slippery Rock community every Friday and Saturday for aquatic rehabilitation.

1999 - 2002 I help prepared students from the Adapted Aquatics Class that service the Tuesday and Thursday inclusive recreational "Learn to Swim" program which includes about 30 children from the community.
